Description
Sir Edward Elgar wrote his Pomp and Circumstance Marches from 1901 to 1930 (with march no. 6 being finished in 2005 using Elgar's sketches as a basis). Since their publication by Boosey & Co. as Elgar's Op. 39, they have became important pieces of the orchestral repertoire. Each march takes around 5 minutes to be performed, and is dedicated to a particular friend of Elgar's. The five original marches have inspired a number of arrangments for band, and similar pieces, while the sixth was put toghether by Anthony Payne in 2006, based on sketches by Elgar.
